As the owner of the Vision Loft, I take pride in providing a complete and thorough eye exam.  I care about you and your family and will treat you like you are my family.

I graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry, after completing my undergraduate degree at University of California, Irvine. Since I was young, I have always wanted to become a doctor.  Now, I truly love my decision and my profession.

My external rotations while in school were the best experiences!  I studied eye diseases and diagnosis at the VA Hospital in Kansas City with one of the most well respected, not to mention, toughest teachers.  I learned about the optometry business, contact lenses and patient mangagement aspects at one of the biggest practices in the Midwest.  I examined servicemen and treated eye injuries at the Marine Base in Kanahoe, Hawaii. Then, working with medical doctors and ophthalomogists , I treated a variety of eye diseases at the Barnes Jewish Hospital Eye Clinic in St. Louis.

After graduating optometry school on the Dean's Honor List, I accompanied my husband, Rob, as we moved to San Antonio, Texas, and then to Las Vegas, Nevada as he completed his service to the US Air Force.  We finally settled here in the Charlotte area after his service almost eight years ago!  We love the South and can't imagine raising our three kids anywhere else.

Being involved in our community is important to me.  I served as PTA president at Blythe Elementary School and continue to coordinate the vision screenings there.  Once a week, my family and I coordinate BINGO for our local assisted living residence in Highland Creek.  We have all learned to call out numbers clear and LOUD.  I also enjoy tennis and can talk a mean game, but would really like to play like I talk!  You will probably see me around town with our kids at their activities as our weekends are consumed with them!

People are always asking me where I'm from because I don't look like I'm from around here, and that is a loaded question...  Where was I born?  Where did I grow up?  Where did I go to school?  Where did I last live?  Come in, ask me and find out!

It is my pleasure to be part of the Vision Loft and to be serving such a wonderful community here!  My hometown is Mount Gilead, NC, where I attended West Montgomery High School.  After graduating from West Montgomery, I studied at NC State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Sociology.  From NC State, I continued on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where I obtained my Doctor of Optometry degree and also a B.S. in Visual Science.

During my optometric education, I completed various clinical externships, including an ocular disease rotation at the James Quillen VA Hospital in Johnson City, TN.  I also interned at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA for a pediatric rotation, which included the diagnosis and treatment of binocular and neurosensory disorders with vision therapy.  My other rotations consisted of a primary care externship at Doctors Vision Center in Greenville, NC and a specialty contact lens rotation at Draisin Vision Group in Charleston, SC.  Thank you to all my mentors!

Currently, I am an active member of the North Carolina State Optometric Society and the American Optometric Association.  While in optometry school, I was also a member of Student Optometric Service to Humanity and served on a mission to Haiti, bringing vision and eyewear to thousands in need.

When I'm not at the office, you can find me on the range trying to figure out this game they call golf.  I also thoroughly enjoy soccer, tennis, and basketball.  Growing up on a farm, I am naturally a passionate bass fisherman and an avid dove hunter.  When I'm not able to do it myself, I like to sit back and pull for my Wolfpack, Panthers, Bobcats, and Juventus!

Feel free to drop by the office for anything, I look forward to meeting you!
